UETA Continuing Education Classes
What classes do I need to take?
- Must take 4 hours of NFPA70E
- The other 12 hours can be any continuing education class listed. The UETA only holds “Core continuing education” classes. There are no professional classes available.
- You can verify your continuing education hours have been posted to the State of Utah database by visiting https://secure.utah.gov/ce-public/

2024 State of Utah Electrical License Renewal Information
Licenses expire on November 30 of even years.
At least 60 days prior to the expiration date of your license, DOPL mails a renewal notice to the licensee’s address of record as provided to DOPL by the individual licensee. (Failure to notify DOPL of an address change could prevent a licensee from timely receiving renewal notification and other important correspondence from DOPL.)

Per the State of Utah these are the requirements to renew your license for the 2024 renewal cycle:
R156-55B-304 Continuing Education – Standards
In accordance with Utah Administrative Code R156-55b-304, during each two-year license term, you must have completed 16 hours of continuing education course work, of which a minimum of 12 hours must be on the National Electrical Code. See Rule R156-55b-304 for details.

Updating your License Records
Legal Name Change:
If your legal name has changed, you must verify the change by submitting a copy of a marriage certificate, divorce decree, court order, driver’s license, or social security card to the Division.

How can I sign up for classes?
If you already have an account with UTETA, then click the Trade School link and sign in with your email and password.
If you do not have an account, you can create an account here. Make sure your IBEW Local 354-member number that is on your dues receipt is included in your account information. If you do not have your IBEW information entered, you will be charged the non-member fee for the class.
I'm an IBEW Local 354 member, why was I charged fees?
Make sure your IBEW Local 354-member number (found on your dues receipt) is in your UTETA account information. If it is missing, please add it to your account information, or call the office to have it added to your account. The fee for Continuing education is $13.00 for members. Non members are $25.00
What if I need to cancel my CE class registration?
If you cannot make a class you have signed up for, then call the UTETA office 801-975-1945 to let us know you will not be attending.
How soon will my CE credit be posted?
The Department of Labor and Industries allows credit to be posted for classes up to 30-days after the class. UTETA will post credit within a couple of days after the end of the class. We advise that you take your CE (Continuing Education) classes well in advance of your license renewal date.
How do I know how many CE's I have on record with the State?
You can look up your information at https://secure.utah.gov/ce-public/index.html
You can search your license number on the right-hand side of the page and click Submit.
